Don't forget to suspend collision coverage, if this is something you typically do for the winter.  I forgot one year and it's a bit of a waste of money.

Does hagerty do this? I was told by the broker they do not

Best bet is to call Hagerty - a quick online search does show that they can turn off collision when in storage but they don't recommend turning off comprehensive.  I leave it on since my car is in my mother in law's garage and I'm pretty sure her Qashqai can take the NSX on.

Hahaha good point! Luckily for.me it's in my garage and the wife never even opens the garage so I'm good lol
Thanks for your help guys. I will call Hagerty and share what I find out

I absolutely leave comprehensive on.  You guys recommend Hagerty?  That's actual driving insurance, not just show insurance?

I use Hagerty for the 911 and it’s always on, year round. We did a check a few years back and it is the same price.  The NSX is on Intact and it’s on fire and theft only when stored.

Hi Brad I've had Hagerty for 12 years. Never had to use any benefits because I barely drive the nsx and it's always stored in the garage. I went with them because the car is supercharged and lowered so the other companies did not want to touch it.

Ash

I am reconsidering my NSX insurance. If you don't mind, I have a few questions.  Is Hagerty okay with any and all modifications?  Are there any extra charges for any sorts of modifications?  Also, do they require an evaluation to determine current value or do they have a way of pegging the value without an evaluation?

Many thanks
Steve

I signed up 10+ years ago so please keep that in mind. When I signed up I gave them a list of all mods with estimaed cost of each. They were good with the mods. As for value, they used to ask for an appraisal but now it's mutually agreed value. Basically you tell them what your car is worth and they insure it for that amount. Of course your premium is tied to that value so you have to weigh that when coming up with a price :)

Hagerty does not reduce insurance when your car is stored!!

I cancelled mine and had a specified value insurance from Cooperators based on a valuation of the car.  It can be suspended when stored.  Compared to the same insurance with Hagerty I saved $1,000.00!!

Kevin,

I pay about $1000 annually for Hagerty, so I'm not sure how you managed to save that much switching providers!

Insurance (like oil & oil filter choice) definately seems to vary on a personal basis.

I can also confirm that Hagerty doesn't give you the ability to "turn off" any part of your insurance for winter storage purposes. Got the same line "We account for this in our pricing".

Cheers,

Lucas

How did you do that???  My car was valued at $125k by Hagerty and cost me $3,000.00 per anum.  Maybe it was driving 4-5K km per year??

the premium on Mariko is 2900 annually but gets reduced by 1100 when i take the road going off for the winter (Avg 4.5-5 months) so my total all year is $1800  full coverage, 1000 deductible..

i get a discount for multiline at Desjardin and live in the country so that all helps..

Kevin,

I valued mine at 75K, my premium is $1200 annually.
I know the higher the car is valued, the higher the premium. But 3x feels like a lot? I believe I have a high deductable too. Maybe $1000?

I figure if I'm making a claim, the high deductable is the last of my concern.

yeah but my sticker was 245 ( I did not pay that)  and it's at around $190 on the resale now...  bonkers ...  all of the Dejardins prices went up but my motorcycle insurance is low relative to my peers due the multiline..    Might shop it around  in the spring as our house policy has basically doubled in the past 6 years -  disasters and all    good times

I guess I'm grossly underinsured, I don't have an agreed value policy.  I was assured that an adjuster would derive an honest market value in case of a total loss.  Maybe that's foolish?  I pay a bit over $700 per year.  CAA.
