Thanks Rick, that may be the last of the teachers from our era.

I'm going to forward this to the old OTHS Google Group (ot...@googlegroups.com) to see what happens.  Likely some of the email addresses have changed since it was last used.

I had to look around to remember the details about this group.  It looks like Rick MacMillan is the "owner", and there are 3 "Managers" - I think they are Rick Nolan, Brian Laishes and Mike Billows.  They can probably see more details than other members, like full email addresses.

You can still view old conversations at https://groups.google.com/g/oths .

Cheers,everyone!

Obit in today's Citizen.

Started in New Edinburgh (as more than a few of us on this list did !). Was an OTHS graduate . He has a very impressive life history.  Died at 87

Sadly, donations to  Dementia Society are requested.

I never had him as a teacher at Tech, but I recall him as a "good guy ".  You will recall that he attended our 1963  50th anniversary !  (Poll - should we try for a 60th ?)

Anyhow, his death has sadly inspired me to contact all of you.  Pls fwd to anyone not on this list.

And it would be very rewarding if each of us did a "reply all" to this msg, telling us all what you're doing, and adding others.  I am in regular contact with Frank Morphy, John Stanley, Brian Lydall

I hope you are all surviving covid.
I had my Pfirst Pfizer shot on March thirty Pfirst.
As Steve replied to me - but we still have to wear  a Pface mask.  Pf**k !

I moved to Kanata from the country when I retired 12 years ago. Nice to hear from you now & then. Jumped to guitar a year or so back. The fingers aren’t as nimble as they once were…but I love music. Had my first shot, and wonder what is coming our way after the second.

Good Luck everyone…

There is not a day that I don't think about how lucky we (OTHS BAND) all were to know and interact with the teachers at Tech. They supported us all and were proud of all of us as we were the ambassadors representing Canada on that great opportunity we were given by the school. The city of Ottawa also was behind in all we did. George Collins was not one of my teachers but he always had a word of support and encouragement at any time while walking the hallways between classes for any of us he came across.
We were so lucky to have known him and have benefited from his advice and guidance.

Good to hear from you Ron.

I couldn't agree more with your observations about Tech & the great teachers we had and the friends we made.

Keep in touch !

I could not agree more. We were so incredibly lucky to have had so many great teachers and I don't mean only the specific teachers that I had but also the many other teachers whom I did not have as my teachers but who contributed so much to the school and hence, indirectly, to me and to all of us. In my mind, there were three teachers, however, who stood out above all of the others. In alphabetical order they were: Carmen Milligan, John Murdie, and Italo Tiezzi.

I deeply miss them all.

We all have ups and downs.

But there are special times and special people and special places for each of us.

When those special times, and people and places come back into our lives, our thoughts, our memories, even for a fleeting moment , I feel blessed.

For George Collins and all the other wonderful teachers and principals  and guys in the band and in the school who are no longer with us-----may they rest in peace and may their memories be a blessing. For me, those are not just words-----their memories ARE a blessing.

To all of you who are still hanging on after 60 years, keep well and safe.

Keep in touch.

Sid Goldstein
