Hi all,
Please consider joining me this Friday, March 27, for a stunning hike in Bandelier. It's an eight mile hike downhill all the way through a lush canyon with high canyon walls. We'll leave cars at the Bandelier Visitor Center and then drive to the Ponderosa Campground
just a few miles after the turnoff to Bandelier. We begin the hike at the trailhead at Ponderosa Campground, taking a good trail to the edge of the canyon and then descending about 500 feet on switchbacks to Upper Frijoles Crossing at Frijoles Creek. We then
hike six miles down the canyon, crossing the narrow creek several times. Most crossings have stones that help us over the shallow water. We will pass hoodoos, tent rocks, and beaver ponds. We will end up at the Visitor Center parking lot and small cafe. It's
an eight mile hike with an elevation loss of about 1500 feet.
Please RSVP. We will meet in the parking lot of the DeVargas Mall in front of Home Goods at 8am on Friday, March 27, We expect to be back by 5pm.
