I have installed and cleaned up 3 times careful to remove previous install.  At First my dmg was quaranteed then after I cleared began the 3 subsequent installs.  The install seems to complete each time but even after I try to force a mount and it does not work.  I run

pkgutil --pkg-info com.github.osxfuse.pkg.MacFUSE

No receipt for 'com.github.osxfuse.pkg.MacFUSE' found at '/'.

I have exhausted techniques to attempt to install.  Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks

Rod Wilson

Hi Rod,

There is no package named com.github.osxfuse.pkg.MacFUSE in macFUSE 4.

The distribution package identifier is io.macfuse.installer.distribution. It contains two component packages: io.macfuse.installer.components.core and io.macfuse.installer.components.preferencepane.

How are you installing macFUSE? Did you use the disk image from https://macfuse.github.io?

Did you follow the getting started guide on https://github.com/macfuse/macfuse/wiki/Getting-Started?

Best regards,
Benjamin

Thanks for response,  When I installed rclone using brew on the mac it also installed OSXfuse.  Big mistake.  It caused my machine to crash and I thought I had cleaned everything out.  Over days my machine finally worsed so that I had to reinstall the OS Sonoma.  Everything is good now.   I have installed MacFuse 4.9.1 and it is working.  Thanks for your reply.  There should be a warning not to use Brew when installing rclone as well as MacFuse.

I have seen that you recommend not to use brew for installing Macfuse.
I am seeing that not using brew on a Mac is a good recommendation when doing these task

Thanks Again

I'm not recommending using Homebrew to install macFUSE since I’m not the maintainer of the Homebrew macFUSE cask and I hold no control over the cask. The maintainer is not involved in the macFUSE project. This means using Homebrew is an unsupported way to install macFUSE.

That being said, I’m sure using Homebrew to install macFUSE works really well for most users and I understand the appeal of using a package management system to install and update software packages.

I’m glad everything is working for you now after reinstalling macOS.
