Hello,

I am working in a project of a really big company and they use their own protocol. We have analyzed different options, and Ostinato is a really potent tool that would fit perfectly in our project, what means that would be highly used in present and future projects.

I have looked at https://devguide.ostinato.org/protocolbuilderhowto , and it explains how to build a new protocol, but I would like to ask about the final steps. Once the protocol has been designed in "Qt", could it be implemented in ostinato locally? I mean, in the final step it says that a pull request is sent, I understand that it is to implement it in future versions of Ostinato. However, I would like to implement the protocol locally and then test it; is it possible?

I would love if where all the protocol options for the streams appear, our protocol could be included and then tested. I would emphasize the idea of "locally" as the protocol is confidential and therefore, the idea is not pulling it up to the network so everyone can access it.

Thank you very much,
Waiting for your response,
Borja Aizpurua.

Borja,

Yes, you can implement it and test it locally without contributing the code upstream. The implication of that would be that you will need to reintegrate it into newer versions of Ostinato yourself or you continue to use the Ostinato version on which you originally implemented without upgrading to newer versions.

I'm available for paid consulting - if required.
