In the past Iwas able to set Osmand to automatically record track when navigating.
I can not now find a way to make it work.
Can someone please provide idiot-proof instructions?  (Albeit I'm IT literate.)
Thanks.

Osmand+ =4.8.6
Device = Galazy S20 FE 5G
Android = 13

1) Menu Button

2) Scroll down to "settings" - pick "settings"

3) Pick "Driving Profile"

4) Scroll down to "Trip recording" (under "Plugin settings") - pick
"Trip recording"

5) Near the middle (at least on my phone) is: "Auto-record track during
navigation" - turn it on

Adjust other settings to your liking while you are there.

Thank you Xavier for your swift and clear response.
I had believed I'd already done that.  Indeed on looking into several of the profiles (Driving Cycling, etc) that appears to have been the case.
Anyway, following your instructions I've undone and re-done it one of the profiles and quickly pressed the "Apply to All" option before it disappeared.
Tomorrow I'll do some testing "on-the-road"(and even on-the-water).
I presume that if I press the Navigation button (right arrow), and set a destination, when I press start the navigation should begin and the "Rec" icon should be showing red. - Correct?

I have the setting I referenced "on" on my driving profile, and
whenever I "start" a navigation, Osmand auto-records a track at the
same time.

So it should record a track for you (provided it is 'on' for the
profile you are using).

I confirm the occurrence of that "AuroRec" problem when starting the navigation,
However, it has not been a problem for me.

After testing it, I found that the navigation is still "Off".

Please check by pressing the navigation arriw Icon at the bottom of the screen that the navigation has definitely started and is not, for example, waiting for the [Resume] button to be pressed.

Hello! Thank you for the feedback.
Yes there was bug with Auto-recording during navigation https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd/issues/19905, it was fixed, but it will be available in the next 4.9 release. Currently you can get Nightly version https://docs.osmand.net/docs/versions/nightly_versions#nightly-builds

Hi Dmytro P.  Thanks.  That explains it.  I'll be content to look forward to the next release. - ATB, Paul W
