I just did the same thing ;-) Only because my tablet has so poor GPS, that I could not stand it.
So I have an old Garmin 10 unit. A blutooth gps receiver.
Switch on the BT, pair the two devices.
Install 'Blutooh GPS' application.
Go to Android settings, developer options and allow 'mock gps position' and choose your 'blutooh' app as position provider.
Since that time any navigation app you have in your tablet gets the position data via BT from your external receiver.
This setup was perfectly running in my car for last 2 months nonstop.
Garmin precision and sensitivity with Android UI comfort ;-)
If anyone has a better/different way I all ears as well as Edson ;-)
