How can I find all results for keyword/value "internet_access = wlan" and "internet_acccess:fee = no"?

I have inserted the keyword/value "internet_access = wlan" and "internet_acccess:fee = no" to several buildings at openstreetmap in the last year.

When I try to find them at http://openpoimap.org/ I get over 20 results in my city.

At osmand+ (newest version of app and map) I type in the searchbox "internet" and osmand+ gives me suggestions for POIs like "Internet acces: wlan".

If I choose "Show on the map", I get only 3 results for this POI in my area.

 

But if I look in osmand+ at the details of buildings, which are not in the results even though they should, then I also see, that they have the correct keyword/value.

The same problem I see, if I try the same search with a city like "cologne". (map Germany North Rhine-Westphalia)

At openpoimap the city is full of wlan, but osmand+ shows me only 6.

So I would like to know, how can I change my search at osmand+ to get all the results and can I search for POIs, which are not suggested of osmand+, like "internet_acccess:fee = no"?

(In English menu)

Go to Search.

Select "Categories"

Scroll completely down to "Custom Search" and tap it

Go to "Service" (this name can be different in your language but should have the "hammer and wrench" icon)

Select all "Internet*" options.

Click "Show"

In the bottom right you now have a "Save" button. First do that and give it a relevant name.

Now you can use your own Custom Search to only display those POIs on the map (and create more Custom Searches/Filters for campings or hamburger restaurants or the combination :) )

First off: I don't think the internet_access:fee=no is covered. See https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd-resources/blob/master/obf_creation/rendering_types.xml#L5173

Shouldn't that be public?

Do you want to share which city you are looking in? I would like to analyze the obf for that region in combination with the tags, to what OsmAnd does in general.

Thanks for the link. The keyword/value is not covered in the xml.
The "public" value has not the same meaning. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:internet_access

So I think, it won't work.

I'm looking in Cologne.
I have two pictures attached for comparision, especially the central bibliography. In osmand+ it doesn't exist, in openpoimap I get it as an result.

If you have any idea how I can fix this, that would be great.

You cannot fix it at the moment from the current maps. The rendering_types.xml  is used to create maps and use the tags from the "raw" OSM map downloads. If the tag is missing, it means they are currently not included in the maps making process.

This requires a change.

It then also requires a change in the default.render.xml to describe how it will be displayed.

There is one option though: Download the raw map from http://download.geofabrik.de/

Download the rendering_types.xml and add your tags.

Use this rendering_types.xml in OsmAndMapCreator (preferences) and create a map for yourself.

Copy this one to your phone thereby replacing the current one. (Note: OsmAndMapCreator creates _2.obf files while OsmAnd can only use _obf files. So renname. Quite stupid but already for years the case)

There are two ways how we can create a poi for wlan, and - unfortunately - two different ways how we can access it with search:

(1) internet_access=wlan is the "main" atrribute
example:

(2) internet_access=wlan is NOT "main" attribute, but in this example amenity= cafe is the "main" attribute (and/or shop=bakery).
internet_access=wlan is only a "additional" attribute, which is handled quite different in search !!!

The way, Harry described, refers ONLY to case (1).
Wlan created like case (2) will NOT be found !

To find case (2) pois follow this instructions:
- Create a custom seach which contains ALL categories in ALL category groups, which might be relevant.
In the example above , add at least whole groupe "Food".
To get also shops with wlan add whole group "Store",
to get also Hotels with wlan add whole group "Tourism"
and so on.
Of course you can only add the single categories, but it is easier (and it works) if you add complete groups.
I - personally added ALL groups, so I will get really ALL pois with wlan.

- After having added one or more groups:
+ in the blue bar at bottom, press SHOW
+ press the symbol for settings in the top bar
Now you see a long list with options with check boxes.
+ scoll down to "Internet access type" and open (expand) it
+ ckeck "wifi"
+ press APPLY FILTERS in blue bar at bottom
OR
SAVE FILTER on top bar (three dots menu)

That's all. Quite easy, isn't it ????

If you want to FIND BOTH (1) AND (2), you need to search for BOTH seperately.
I did not find a way to solve that with ONE Search.
If anybody has an idea, it is very wellcome.

Hi Peter,

sorry for my late answer, but thank you for your explanation, your solution works very well.

I've two notes for all interested:

1) If you don't see any results on the map, you have to resize it.

2) If I click all categories in my custom search first, and then search for the checkbox "Internet access type" in the filter, I cannot find it. 

The solution for  me is, only click one type, for example "Food". Here I get the checkbox, activate it and then save your custom filter. 

After that, you can edit the custom filter and add all the other categories.

If you don't need search you can go the GPX route and see them on the map in five minutes. If this isn't what you need, maybe it will help someone else:

Go to https://overpass-turbo.eu click "Wizard" and type:

(internet_access=wlan and internet_access:fee=no) in Cologne 

and hit "Build and run query". 

Then click "Export" then "Download/copy as GPX". Copy the resulting file to OsmAnd's "tracks" folder, start the app and in My Places>Tracks>Tracks select the file and turn on "Show on map"

After you've done it once, you can get any OSM query showing in OsmAnd in five minutes with this method!  (My favourite Android file manager is "Ghost Commander" (FOSS), and I use Dukto and Trebleshot for transferring files between Windows PC and Android - both free, no Ads)
