Navigation voice stops working - help I am lost

After the most recent upgrade I have noticed that the audible navigation instructions stop working after the first couple of instructions.

I have only tested this using car navigation.

Phone shouldn't be the problem and have checked settings.

Anyone else having this problem?

Go to

Settings / Extensions / OSMAnd-Development

There tap on the triple dots, and then on settings. There is a menu point "test language announcement" or similar.

A menu with all supported languages pops up. Press on the desired language. 

Again, a menu of several announcements in English pops up. Press on any, you should hear this announcement in the selected language. 

(note, my current language setting is not English, so the buttons might be labeled differently)

Are you using text-to-speak of the phone? 

Because every time I have seen this, the reason was the phone, not the navigation. The text-to-speak runs in background, and sometimes the phone will kill it as "unnecessary".
