Hi, I am newbie using OsmAnd v3.13 on an iOS device.
When travelling with my motorcycle or mountainbike I am using OSMAnd to follow routes that I worked out on the PC.

What is a bit of a pain is that the arrow that marks my position does not always point to the top of my screen but instead to the left or right or whereever following the street :-) which means that I always have to think if I have to turn left or right etc. on the next corner. I already tried all settings in the menu and also the compass needle but nothing worked !

What am I doing wrong ? Can you help please !?

Thanks !

app menu-> Settings-> General Settings-> Map orientation
Did you try to set your parameters here?

Hi Eugene,

Yes, I already tried the options here... as written below.
In other apps you can keep the orientation of my travel direction always to the top of the screen and map changes in direction of travel, e.g. Garmin: "in direction of travel" .

Is this due to iOS version 3.13 and maybe working in Android version 3.6x ?

It works just fine on my Android phone.
One of my devices has a compass.
On my device without compass I have two choices
North up    and
direction up
On the device with a compass there is a third possibility where the map is rotated such that its north is directed to true North.

As Helmut said, in Android you have 2 or 3 choices, depending on the fact that your device has or not an integrated gyroscope (=> compass).

To easily switch to another mode, you just have to tap the icon in the upper left corner of the display.
The image below is taken from an Android device: it should not be too much different in iOS.

Hope this helps,
Max

There I wrote for iOS version:  app menu-> Settings-> General Settings-> Map orientation (to direction of movement).
You can click to the Compass (left side of the screen). For viewing the compass you should switch on it (app menu  - Configure screen - Compass) for your navigation profile.

He has an iPhone. Then why the discussion about Android.

I also use OsmAnd 3.13 on an iPhone 6 with iOS 12.4.5. My iPhone 6 already has a gyroscope. In fact, the rotation of the map works better than on my Moto G7 with Android 10.

You have to do it as described by Max1234lta. If you see a blue triangle, your setting is "To Direction of Movement" You should also set “Display position always in center” under Menu - Configuration Screen. These are my preferred settings.
Osmand then behaves exactly like an outdoor device from Garmin.
