Stronger off-route indication

I often use Osmand to follow gpx tracks. If I go off-route I think there is a single voice message along the lines of "You have been off the route for 50 metres". After that, the only indication is the on-screen position (which I might not look at for a while). Another voice prompt can interrupt the off-route notification in which case I might not get the chance to hear it at all.

It would be helpful to have a more persistent message. Even a single repeat at 100m would be an improvement. Better would be a regular repeat unless cancelled by, say, switching the screen on, with a reset when I rejoin the route.

Couldn't agree more. Osmand used to have an off route alarm but that was discontinued for some unknown reason. As a cycle tourist I use voice instructions and missing a turn is a right pain. Furthermore "You have been off the route for 50 metres" does not always activate. When it does it can easily be missed by traffic and wind noise.

I have brought up this subject before both on this forum and Github with little interest being shown. I find this odd. One would have thought that an off route alarm is an essential  / indispensable part of navigation. What is needed is a very loud alarm type sound ( that is unmissable ) so one can at least stop and rectify the situation. Other apps have this feature. All very frustrating.

I see the point for some uses, but for car navigation this can be
extremely annoying, if one is operating in a mode where the driver is
really making decisions and running osmand to 1) show distance to turn
that one is wanting to take anyway and 2) be set up to start navigating
for real in the event of detour. This may seem odd, but it's what I
usually do when driving places where I know the roads (which is most of
my driving).

I found the 'you have been off the route for 300 meters' to come late,
and to make way too much noise.

So I could see an off-route alarm menu choice among

quiet (just give new directions)
brief (just say "off route" and then as quiet)
long (as it used to be)
alarm (alarm tones and then as long)

It's pretty clear this is a) a persoanl preferance and b) situational.
