Hello, I use OsmAnd+ (version 3.8.2 on Android 10) for navigation with my bicycle.
I usually load the gpx of the route, and then use the app in "Browse map" profile.
I would like to keep the position always centred, but when I activate the "position centred" button, my zoom level is automatically changed.
If I manually change the zoom, after about 5s the app automatically changes the zoom to some standard value.
How do I prevent the app from changing the zoom?

I would like to keep my position always centred, and choose the zoom level manually.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Giordano,

when I open the settings for the route I go to "Navigation settings" > "Map during navigation" and then I have "Auto zoom map", where I can select the "No auto zoom" option.

Hi Alessandro,
Thanks for your reply.
I already have that setting but it does not work because I am using the "Browse map" function and not the "Navigation".
It is so annoying that I cannot use the auto-centre while riding my bycicle because the app automatically zooms in a lot, hence making it impossible to see the route.
Is there a way to change this option for the "Browse map"?

Thanks to anyone that can suggest a solution for my problem!

Hi Giordano,
I also use OSMand for cycling. In my settings: "Configure map" going down to "Map Rendering" there is the button "Map Magnifier". This is set to 100% which means that I can see 200 meter on the little scale bar at the bottom of the map. This is a quite comfortable setting for me. If you say that your OSMand zooms in too much, then your "Magnifier" might be set to 400% or so???
Regards
Wolfgang

Dear Wolfgang,
Thank you for pointing me to that setting.
Unfortunately, that setting seems to affect only the map "while not moving".
If I set "Configure map/Map rendering/Map magnifier" to 25% (I also tried 400%, but it's the opposite of what I want), when I press the "position centred" button the map gets centred and stays at the chosen zoom level (25%).
Unfortunately, exactly 5s after I start moving (GPS moving) the map zoom gets automatically reset to 100% (or watever other super-close zoom level that does not allow me to see the route as I want).
I believe this is a bug.

As a personal remark, I think it would be nicer if one could decouple the "auto-zoom" and "position centred" mechanisms, so that one could manually keep the map zoomed in/out according to preference.
Any other suggestion for solving this issue?

Thanks everybody for your time!

Found the culprit: the zoom works as intented if you are in the CYCLING PROFILE!
For some reason, the bug I was describing affects only the Browse map/Base profile.
Since that is the standard default profile, it may be worth fixing the bug.
However, I managed to solve my issue by changing the default profile to cycling.
Now I am very satisfied!

Thank you all for your help,
Giordano
