Sluggish refresh sometime

Hi, I've been using OSMAnd on my motorcycle for a couple of rides now and sometimes the redraw of the maps is horrible and slow. I've found this happens more in the dark theme (if it's even possibly linked).

My phone is a Huawei P20 pro. Can it really be not powerfull enough to run this app? I've seen post about screen resolution taking a toll on the refresh rate but haven't tried lowering it yet.

any help or pointer would be appreciated. don't mind lowering the map details, just didn't find that kind of option.
