Hi!

I want to use OSMAnd+ 3.7 for background audio navigation with screen off on my mobiles (Huawei P20pro with android 9 and/or OnePlus 7 with Android 10).

On the P20 I did use OSMAnd 3.6 and made it work, start navigation, auto-save GPX track, did click power button to made the screen lock, put mobile in pocket and the mobile did audio navigate me through unknown area for >3h time with less battery consumption.
I was happy. To get more mpas and support OSMAnd, I did fetch OSMAnd+ 3.6 and removed OSMAnd, now the background audio navigation does not work anymore, it always tell me "connection to GPS lost", this also does happen if I use another GPS app like mapillary in foreground and OSMAnd+ in background.
Ok, now the strange part: if I install OSMAnd 3.6 beside OSMAnd+ on mobile, background audio navigation works again on OSMAnd+ . REALLY strange.

But after upgrading OSMAnd+ and OSMAnd to 3.7, the background audio navigation fails again :-(
After downgrading OSMAnd to 3.6 manually, audio navigation with OSMAnd+ 3.7 with screen lock on works again.

Very strange.
But I did not manage yet to enable this setup to background audio navigation on my OnePlus 7 wiith Android 10 - it did work before upgrading both apps to 3.7, but does not work now, even with manually downgrading.

I did follow all the ideas I know from FAQ and other guides, as other apps like OruxMapsGT do work in background on both mobiles.
But I would like to have OSMAnd+ running in background with audio navigation and screen off.

Anyone has a idea?

thank you,
Lars

HI

On the OnePlus Android 10 mobile it looks like I need to enable GPS for OSMAnd+ all the time, not only while the app is running.
On P20Pro I did not found that option yet.

This may relate to Android 10 setting for Location services. For your phone, click on the cog for 'settings', and then search for 'Location' - this will bring up a list of all apps. I've moved all of the apps that I use for navigation etc from 'Allowed only while in use' to 'Allowed all the time'. Click on the app and then chose which category for it.

Good luck, and I'd be interested to know if this solves your problem.

Regards

Nick
