Live traffic data

Years ago this issue was briefly discussed and abandoned (it seems).

By now several navigation apps using openstreetmap data are in playstore that do provide live traffic data and even route recalculation based is traffic.

When, if ever, will osmand become a serious navigation app and include (directly or in plugin) live traffic data usage in map display and route calculation?

I guess as soon as there is enough live open and free data available.
Currently the live data is locked away at the larger producers of such
data e.g. Google, Here, TomTom and Co.

Can you give an example?

Obviously here we're not talking about apps like Waze that may not cost
money but you're still paying for them indirectly, by providing data
that e.g. Google can sell.

I'm not sure how they do it, but Magic Earth got a good privacy ranking... Still they talk about crowd sourcing....
