System Administrator 
(Selangor - Cyberjaya)

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor networks of servers used for the hosting, data collection and production of Hitwise developed products and services.
• Provide enterprise-wide incident response
• Coordinate internal and external resources as necessary to fix incidents
• Manage ticket request queues (incidents and service requests) and ensure tickets are handled within established SLA timeframes
• Identify system or application failures in data acquisition or delivery, and fix or escalate as necessary
• Manage provisioning of account and server access to new staff globally, as necessary
• Provision and maintain Linux and Windows servers, both physical and virtual, on Linux host environments
• Commission networking hardware
• Install and configure software packages and tools on Linux and Windows servers
• Work with architecture groups in testing and deploying software
• Experience in backup technologies, including open-source and commercial solutions
• Proactively identify and drive process formulation or improvement, in new or existing areas of operations
• Work towards increased automation of tasks through optimization of process and scripting, where applicable
• Day-to-day operation of Windows Server 2003/2008 installations
• Software debugging and trouble-shooting in Windows Server 2003/2008 environment
• Software debugging and trouble-shooting in Windows desktop environments
• Experience in Active Directory and RDP
• Windows Server 2003/2008 Group policy and Local Security Policy experience
• Follow defined processes to execute on scheduled tasks
• Data retention and management activities as pertaining to our data retention policies
• Backup and archive hosts
• Perform software and hardware upgrades as necessary
• Available to be on call some weekends and out of hours on a roster basis
• Act as escalation point for Hitwise issues when on call
• Serve as a point of contact for ISP partners where applicable
• Follow the resolution processes in an appropriate manner
• Work with the Hitwise Research & Development team to design, implement & maintain tools, processes and scripts to aid the performance, management and security of the network      powering the products and services offered by Hitwise worldwide.
• Provide systems administrator & server support to the Hitwise Operations and Development teams.
• Liaise with hardware vendors and data centre partners to troubleshoot network problems and hardware failures.

 

Requirements:

• Thorough knowledge and experience with the Linux operating system
• Tertiary or other formal IT qualifications, or equivalent industry experience
• Thorough familiarity and comfort with Linux terminal and CLI accessed systems
• Experience with Linux shell and Perl scripting
• Familiarity with common open source software packages and their use; Ex. Nagios, Puppet, Subversion
• Ability to work to established processes and to develop, or contribute improvements to, those processes as required
• Have had some experience in production system administration environments
• Knowledge and experience with Linux
• TCP/IP networking and routing
• Windows networking advantageous
• Knowledge of Cisco networking concepts, if not fundamentals
• Data centre experience advantageous
• Basic SQL database knowledge or experience would be advantageous
• Apache web server configuration and diagnostics advantageous
• ITIL process knowledge and/or exposure advantageous
• Formal certification in Windows Server operating systems a bonus
• Strong communication skills
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience is required.
