How to work with OpenWISP RADIUS for WPA Enterprise EAP-TTLS-CHAP authentication

This question may not be about WISP, but about freeradius.

I followed https://openwisp-radius.readthedocs.io/en/latest/developer/freeradius_wpa_enterprise.html ,installed freeradius and openwisp-radius.

the authorization only works if I use PAP. If I try to use chap or mschap , rest (using the freeradius -X command) reports that the password is empty. 

Can OpenWisp radius use CHAP？
