Hey guys!

I have been struggling with some aspects of Open VSP aero analysis when I try to include a vertical tail to the design. I was thinking of switching to AVL to try and run some simulations again, however, I cant seem to find out how I can convert my Open VSP file to AVL file format. I did find a NASA presentation talking about external HRM2AVL utility but to my knowledge, it doesn't seem to exist?

Any help would be really appreciated to convert model files from Open VSP to AVL!

What issues are you having with OpenVSP?  Your issue may be something that we've come across before.

There is a Python script bundled with OpenVSP that will write an AVL file.  I won't be any help running it, but hopefully you can figure it out.

It is included with the normal OpenVSP download in the Python packages.

As Brandon said, a vertical tail should not be a problem, post an example file and someone may be able to help you out.
