Hi,

Im validating vspaero for using Complex Prop-Rotor Wing analysis.

In this case,
The wing with Thrust Prop and Hover Rotor is flying in 4 aoa state.
case1.png
But the same case that has different velocity orientation(I fliped case1 to 90 deg),
vspaero shows different results althought they are same case.
case2.png
When I set a only one Thrust Prop, they show the same results.
But, when I set like these cases that set both prop and rotor, they show the different results.

I'll upload this case1 and case2
I cannot understand why they show the differnet results

What does it look like when you open up in Viewer and show the pressure distribution and wakes?

OpenVSP puts arrow markers on a prop component to indicate the direction of rotation and the direction of thrust.

These can be scaled to suit the model -- in your model, their size was set to 0.0, making them invisible.

If you turn them on, you will notice that the 'thrust' of your hover rotor in your second example is pointing at the wing.  I believe you expect to point the opposite direction.

I also noticed that you turned 'off' the wing tip caps.  This might be what you want, but it is somewhat unusual.

Sorry I ran it using VLM with actuator disk model. So I cannot check wakes.

I'll check this using prop model to see wakes.

Thank you.

1. I checked case2's rotor thrust direction. As you said that, I put wrong thrust direction.

2. When I run simple wing model using Panel Method in VSPAERO, the lift coefficient distribution along wingspan is very weird when Wing tip cap is closed.

So I always open Wing tip cap.
But actually it is unusual way for runnig wing model etc as you said

Thank you always.

I ran both of these with the flipped version having the rotor pointing the right way.  I got the same result in VLM mode for both.  I think that was the issue.  Wakes and pressures look the same too.  Just for fun, I ran the same case in Panel mode from the 3.27.1 GUI and the load distribution, pressure distribution, wakes, etc. all looked REALLY close to the VLM solution.  Plus, I didn't have to manually add the disks to the vspaero input file as I had in the past, CompGeom ignored them and added the rotors like it should.  Nice!
