I would like to design a hydrofoil in OpenVSP. I am new to fluiddynamics and simulation and trying to gauge which tool to use. I came up with a few candidates:
1. xflr5/flow5
2. sharpy uses uvlm and xbeam
3. openvsp
4. openaerostruct
Reading through examples and guides I found a pdf talking about aeroelasticity simulations in openvsp but i wasn't sure if openvsp is able to do it or if it was some kind of future outlook.
Secondly, I would like to know if openvsp is able to simulate a waterline.
For context:
I would like to design a hydrofoil in a canard setting or boxwing setting and optimize it using parametric optimization. First I was only interested in aerodynamics but then I have seen that people even do flutter analysis, and so I am thinking about doing an aeroelastic optimization too.
Kind regards
