Hello everyone,

My name is Anwesha and I am interested in spatial data analysis and learning GeoDa. I am absolutely new, so you may find my question weird. I just want to know if instead of using R (which I don't know),  can I use STATA with GeoDa?

I am no expert, the developers are trying to make the application more flexible, but Geoda still has some limitations. You can explore the software.

Hi, I have never used STATA with GeoDa, but the "haven" package in R can read .dta file without a problem. GeoDa has very nice features and a graphic interface. It will be more than enough to deal with every day spatial analysis (spatial autocorrelation, autoregressive models and many others. Still, all things considered, it might be worthwhile investing sometime to familiarize yourself with the "spdep" "spatialreg" packages in R (I believe GeoDa's authors are also involved in developing these packages). It is likely that you will find a new continent of spatial analysis.

Regards,

Danlin Yu
