Hi there

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S20FE running android version 13
I use the Opensongapp version 6.7.0 441 and then I transfer to justchords on an Iphone Xr

I used to be able to export justchords file from the app to Google drive very smoothly but now when I try to export it isn't exporting as a justchords file I have to manually add .justchords to the end of the filename to be able to make it work
Is there a fix available to this currently?

Thank you,
John

Hi John,

I can see the bug.  I now have a fix ready for the next release v6.7.3 (hopefully today).
Do you know about the OpenChords protocol for synchronising between OpenSongApp and JustChords?  This is a collaboration between Marek (JustChords) and me (OpenSongApp).  Since our apps have a shared vision, we wanted to make collaboration and sharing easy.

I'm aware but i'm not sure if it's just because of my phone or its storage it always crashes whenever I try to open it from the opensongapp

Thank you,
John

It shouldn't crash.  The app actually records a crash log that you can share with me if you like and I'll see if I can fix the issue.  To ensure that this crash is recorded, you should try to open the OpenChords page (Settings>Storage>OpenChords) and let it crash.  Then open the app again, go to Settings > About> App usage logs and share the crash log file with me (it's a text file that you can also view if you wish).  It will let me know your device, app version, Android version and then most importantly the lines of code in the app that are causing the crash.

In the meantime, I've uploaded the Google drive filename fix to the beta channel and will push this to the stable channel today once I've checked everything is ok.

Best wishes,
Gareth

Hi John,

Thanks for sending that.  I'll get a fix ready for the next release (it will be next week as I'm heading off for a few days holiday with my family).  In the meantime, the crash seems to be caused by a corrupt file in your OpenSong/Settings/ folder.  There are 2 files that you can delete manually in this folder that should reset the OpenChords functionality for you.
conflictCheck.json - this is the one that is causing the crash.  It is created by OpenSongApp to keep track of last sync dates, etc.  It looks like that file should be in your folder, but for some reason, it is failing when trying to read it.  You can safely delete this.  I suspect that this file is there but is either 0kb in size (empty) or is corrupted.

songFolderUUIDs.json - this file keeps a track of your unique OpenChords API key for read/write permissions to the OpenChords server for each folder you synchronise.  If you haven't used this successfully yet, you can delete this file as well (if it exists - if not, ignore for now).

If you'd rather not delete them, just rename them to something like OLD_conflictCheck.json and OLD_songFolderUUIDs.json.  That way the app will ignore them and create fresh versions

Both files will be recreated when the OpenChords page runs for the first time.

If you do remove the files above, can you let me know if this solved your issues please.

Best wishes,
Gareth
