April 13th I used the app (Version 6.1.1) all day no problem, on my Samsung A7 Tab. Today, April 17, the app won't open at all. If I touch the icon multiple times it reaches a state where the splash screen can be seen,  but only when I bring up all the open apps, (you know, the "Recently Used Apps" view, I think it is)  from there I can close it, by sliding it off the screen, but cannot switch to it.
Appreciate any help.

Hi John,

You can 'force close' the app to quit if something isn't right.  Long press on the icon in the app panel (where you open apps from), select app info button (i) and click on the force stop button.  This might sort it for you.
If not, you can try clearing the app cache/data from the same page (under app info > Storage).  This will clear your app preferences (if you have them saved as a profile, you can load them back in again), but won't delete your songs, sets, etc.
When you next start the app it will ask for the location of your OpenSong/ folder and you'll need to select it again (to give the app permission).

If the app is crashing, it should create a file in the OpenSong/Settings/ folder on your device called CrashLog.txt.  If that file exists, send me a copy of it and I'll see if there is something I need to fix.

Let me know how you get on!

Gareth

I suddenly find that the App is closing immediately when I try to start it now.  Looks like I am running the April 15 update.  Did a restart device and an App Info/force stop already - no help.  I haven't cleared Storage yet.  I am using it on a ONN tablet running Android 11.

Hi,

This crash has appeared on my Google Play crash logs for a while (approx 15 crashes per week, so only affects some users, but still an issue).  Unfortunately it doesn't help me figure out what is causing it as it doesn't name any lines of code in my app that are causing the crash (should menition com.garethevans.opensongtablet.... on at least one line).  I'd love to be able to help figure this one out, but I've never been able to reproduce it.
Can you share your OpenSong/Settings/fileActivity.txt and OpenSongSettings/fileWriteActivity.txt files please.  I'm wondering if there is something about the last song viewed that is causing this error (maybe a very large song, or song file).  If these point to a file, you can send that file to me to - this would likely be the last song you tried to view before the crash.

If you clear the app cache/storage, it should reset the app (you'll lose your preferences if you haven't saved them as a profile, but you won't lose your songs).  I would appreciate a look at those logs files first though!

I've just installed this app on a new samsung tablet but it just refuses to even open.  I've follwed all the advice for clearing the cahce, uninstalling and re-installing the app , everything.  I get absolutely nothing from it and I just don't understand why.

Hi John, does it get as far as the select storage screen or the splash loading screen?
