Hi all,
Yesterday I have given Florian permissions to merge pull requests in the
project, so that he and Kush can work independently on the UI tests.
Given the current protection settings for the master branch this
amounted to making him "Owner" in GitHub terms.
I would have preferred to discuss this before, so here is a thread for
that: we can revert or adapt if people have any concerns.
In general I feel a pressing need to work on our gouvernance to decide
on the appropriate procedures for this. It is hard to give this a
priority when so many other things are going on, of course.

Thanks for pointing this out.
I strongly feel that if any existing Admin has a level of trust in someone then we should trust that Admin also and not get in the way of Owner promoting. But perhaps Admin promoting should always be discussed. How about something like that in our governance?

I am ok with Florian getting owner rights
Agree we should finish this governance doc. Due to the volume of comment and different opinions I think it will more effective to discuss and resolve them in a call. Who would like to participate ?

I'm fine with the judgement call for a pressing need, but we should work towards a more fine grained permission structure so that we can be liberal with commit rights without having them also implying full ownership of the project.
I'd be happy to participate in a governance call. Can you forward a link to the current draft?
