Does the staff version of the live departure boards, show the train length?

My previous experience of using the public version of the LDBWS did not have the length of the Scotrail trains I was interested in. I think the train length is shown on the physical departure boards.

Thanks

Gerald

Hi Gerald,

Both the normal and staff versions provide train lengths, where this data is present in Darwin.

CIS providers may still show information like this on station boards even if this isn't in Darwin, as they will have their own separate data sources from the TOCs. Of course the idea is that everything like this should be in Darwin, but...

Ok so if I can see Avanti train lengths on the public version of the LDBWS but not Scotrail trains then the staff version is not going to help me. It up to the TOC to populate the data in Darwin.

Yes, that's right. If the data isn't in the public version, it won't be in the staff version either.

The passenger train allocation and consist message queue would probably have the data you need to determine the train length (to a limited degree of accuracy), but it's more complex to process than a REST API.
