Hi,

I'd like to clarify the collapse maps used in the risk calculations. I've ran the scenario damage demo (Nepal), and noticed that xml of collapse map is created even though there is no fragility function defined for collapse. Does the collapse represent the worst limit state? Why then just create the collapse maps not for other limit states?
Please correct me if I misunderstood something.
Thanks.

Regards,

Hyeuk

Dear Hyeuk,

The OpenQuake-engine assumes that the last damage state (usually collapse, complete damage, destruction, etc) corresponds to collapse.

Thank you,
Vitor

Hi Silva,

Thanks for your kind reply. If that's the case, then I would suggest not to use the term "collapse map". Basically the map represents the spatial distribution of no. of assets in a certain damage state, so why don't we call it "damage state map"? Also one might want to know spatial distribution of assets in worse than a certain damage state (e.g., worse than slight). I hope you could write a code for that purpose as well.
Thanks.

Hi Hyeuk,

This is a good suggestion, and we are indeed already planning in this direction to provide damage distribution maps for all damage states rather than just for the ultimate state: https://github.com/gem/oq-risklib/issues/405#issuecomment-147700295 .

Thank you,
Anirudh

Dear Anirudh and all users,

I have tried to simulate the scenario damage calculation, and I got the two outputs (Aggregate Event Damages and Asset Damage Distributions). Is it possible to extract the collapse maps of exposure in terms of damage probability in scenario damage calculation? Since I just got the output of either 0 or 1 for each damage state from the Asset Damage Distributions, as figure below. Do I miss something about parameter configuration?

I appreciate the feedback and attention.

Hi Aulia,

From your output file, it seems like the probability of all four damage states is zero for the assets visible in your screenshot. Without looking at your input files we cannot say more.

Hi Anirudh,

Thank you for the response. At this point, I want to make sure that the 6th-10th columns of the table above represent the probability of damage. Am i correct?

Best,
Aulia
