Good evening (o;

As my first machine is almost mechanically complete I am looking for a source for cheap or affordable used SMT feeders to test my own electronics and software...

Is someone aware of a source for feeders preferably in Germany/Switzerland or the EU?

Or is there a special market place website for used SMT equipment?

thanks in advance
richard

Hi,

About these Dima feeders - I think I am responsible for their "vanishing" act as I bought most of them  from eBay.

They are available form some resellers - I bought some from http://fixtrade.nl/ as they also have wider size ( 12/16/24/32) - just the prices are higher ( base 8mm feeder as 7 pcs pack is 400Euro, however you can talk with them for better offer , you might be able end up in 40..50Euro per feeder, also the pack includes also very useful cassette. Wider are in 100 .. 150 Euro range as they are kind of rare ).
They are really nice,easy to use and fix, the main drawback is that they are wide ( base unit is 20mm)

I have also some of Philips mechanical feeders ( look like these https://www.ebay.com/itm/224050094892 ) - 40x 8mm and 5x 12mm
They are relatively cheap - you can get them all for 400 Euro. They need a push from your head ( see them in action - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8Up1yM411k )

I thought of replacing Dima with Siemens Schultz feeders , so they might be for sale, just that I have quite many of them ( 60+ ) and thay would be for sale as whole pack - I am not sure you want that many from the start.

Hi Richard,
take care not to get the old ones. Discussion here: https://groups.google.com/g/openpnp/c/oltieQkVCN4

If it's a good offer for Schultz feeders (<50€) in Germany, I'm also interested.

Hello Mike

That I do as well meanwhile (o;
But sometimes a quick link helps more when asking as you guys as long time users know better which model is actually older, old, newer or new (o;

Perfect :-)

Seems I receive the right models then....just have to get a 30V supply now for the weekend for testing.
If those Lemo connectors just weren't that expensive.....cost almost as much as a dual feeder...

But in worst case I already started printing a 8mm feeder from the openpnp feeder page links...

You can ask Herr Bölle for this adapter. It's for using new feeders on old machines (MS-90, HS-180 etc.).

Good afternoon

So I am a little confused as those Lemo connectors on ebay show different types of sockets..one is male and the other is female...

So which is the correct type to plug in the feeder?

EGG.1B.307.CLL?

thanks in advance
richard

Good morning (o;

Picked up my feeders....

Though on Ebay TDC Bölle pictured them as -04 I received the -03 versions....

So is there a big difference between the -03 and the -04 version?

cheers

I’m not quite sure which version you refer to - Mechanic should work regardless of the version - can you post some photos ?
The Version on the Controller PCB In the feeder boron is important

Hello Mike

It's the product number on the sticker outside, this one has 00141096-04:

Mine are 00141096-03...

Someone mentioned here that -03 and -04 should be okay...

Siemens AG L&A LA1 is important - How many you have ? Are all with this tag ? I have some -with the same tag- this will work with Open PnP and Schultz controller from Bill.

Hi Richard,

The main difference between -03 and -04 is the firmware.  It changed the behavior of the yellow LED.  With -04 firmware it indicates whether the lane is set to 2mm or 4mm pitch. They also added this sticker.

Of course the -04 are also newer and in my opinion slightly more valuable.

Yes...all three have the same product/revision number....

Tomorrow the Z-axis is on my schedule...

Also received now all parts for the 3d printed feeder design....will test them as well...

Yes, they are big and heavy.  I recommend mounting them to your table instead of the frame.  You may need to modify your frame construction to accommodate them.

If you want to get any kind of speed, you will need a sturdy table.
My rails are fake HiWin purchased from Ebay.  They work well enough for this application, but are a bit noisy.

I just got some of the -04 dual lane 8mm feeders and saw that difference. They are also in much better condition despite being only a couple years newer. Of course that may just be because they were taken care of better.

i figured out, that all given links to Ebay Sellings of the connectors are not longer seenable.
Had anybody in mind what these connectors are sold for ?

At the moment I found prices at the top at about 35 EUR / piece downto 18 EUR at different distributors in Europe.
I try to figure out, if there might be a pin compatible alternative for that application. if there is something out arround or under 10 EUR / piece, might there be an interest of doing a bulk order ?

Hi Mike,
thank you for showing this sale. I was not able to find them in Ebay.de even with worldwide selling option checked.
But using ebay.com does the trick...

However it seems, that the Siemens Feeders might become more popular to the community.
So I will keep on finding alternatives and keep the group updated, once successful.

Regards

Bergy
