AF FEEDER V2 | Auto Feeder made from CNC aluminum starting at $45

Hello everyone,

This is a project that we have gone through 2 versions.

With version V1, we designed on the basis of 0816 Feeder, however, it has many shortcomings as well as durability, so we developed version V2.

AF FEEDER V2 we create them by CNC machining method of solid aluminum alloy, ensuring precision on each product. With some improvements compared to:

• Using 050 motor combined with gearbox, giving torque up to 0.2Nm instead of the very weak N20 motor
• Works well with 0402 size components
• Quick disassembly mechanism, with 2 positioning pins and USB connection jack
• RS485 communication, only 1 USB 485 can control it via M command code
• Intuitive 7-segment LED displays directly on the Feeder, allowing you to set: Address, step 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 24
• The mechanism creates a compressive force from above to the component roll, helping the component not to be thrown during the pushing process
• CNC machined gears
• Precise positioning through optical sensors
• Almost completely sealed design, minimizing the component falling inside
• The control circuit we use is a STM32F030K6T6 microcontroller with a motor power circuit, with a motor locking feature to prevent inertia from changing position, causing loss of accuracy

We always love to make high quality and durable products through CNC method

You will wonder if the cost will increase, however, we have solved that problem by owning a CNC processing factory, with more than 6 industrial CNC machines, to ensure production speed and product cost

We have developed versions: 8mm, 12mm, 16mm

The installation distance between 2 feeders is at least 20mm

The thinnest size of the 8mm feeder is 16mm, we have tried to reduce their size, but because the thinner it is, the more difficult it is to CNC process

Hi Tony,

Your feeder (and your PnP machine) both look very nice. Good work!

Is the feeder designed to have the same geometry as a CL feeder, with the same mounting pin locations, height to pick location, etc? If so it would make a fantastic replacement on machines that are already set up for CL feeders.

However, the USB plug on the bottom goes through the center of the manifold. Are you using that plug for RS485? If so, is it possible for customers to remove the plug by unsoldering it from the control board and adding a different cable? That way it could be fitted to existing machines that use CL feeders, with no mechanical changes to the machine.

Thanks for your comment. About the height of AF FEEDER, I am exactly the same as Yamaha CL. I also learned the design from them. However, the position of the fixing pins is different, so I have to change the details of the feeder base. I use USB jack as a quick connection jack, you can remove it and solder the wire if you want, only 4 wires: 12VDC A B GND.

superb design! but, why you are placing led display and buttons? it can be configured via openpnp. why you add such feature? its one more pcb inside feeder and more wires = more complicated design and more wires to solder. you know - you can just put this feeder to machine and press "detect" or "configure" in software to configure feeder number or feeder step (ever in auto or "sami-auto" mode).

but as I say - this is a superb design

Yes, it is possible to remove the led screen and buttons, everything is configured in openpnp. However, I find it quite monotonous if removed, I like colorful things :))) so it will cost more to make it more beautiful

I noted you love to colorful things :) anodized Alu its not a simple thing, but you put blue anodized hinge/lock for feeder ;) looks great!

This looks great! If I get some, my plan would be to remove the existing CL feeder mounting block and put your mounting block in its place. It should be a fairly easy conversion.

  The width of the AF8mm feeder is 20mm. With the standard 10-position feeder block measuring 230mm, the total space required to install 20 AF8mm feeders is 460mm. I have attached the dimensions of the AF feeder block for your reference

  Because I use solid CNC-machined aluminum for ease of manufacturing, and utilize an N30 motor, the AF Feeder is slightly thicker than other feeders.
