I have had a problem for a while that installing openpnp 2 it tires to install some demoboard files in a read only directory.
If I cancel this it rolls back the install ?

Is there a way to alter the target dir ?

Thanks

Hi Jason
Hope your well
Windows 10  64bit.

For some reason the demo files ended up in a one drive read only dir.
I tried making it r/w and even deleted the files but the installer didn't like it.

This is update an existing install.
I tried new install as well in a different place but that didn't help.

Hi Peter,

I'm not sure why it's trying to install in OneDrive. I recently changed the installer to install the samples in "User's Documents Directory" so that it would avoid an issue where they were being installed in the Program Files directory. Perhaps just try right clicking the installer and run it as Administrator?

Thanks,
Jason

Just a wild guess:

From where do you start the installer?

Have you tried to move it to a different directory and start from there?

Hi Jason
I tried as admin, doesn't help.
I'm running the installer from my downloads dir.

It looks like you have setup the user folders to be redirected to OneDrive.

I wonder if you have controlled folder turned on and the openpnp installer is not an approved application so it is unable to write to that folder.

In settings you can turn off controlled folder: press and hold down the Windows key and then press I to open settings and then type 'controlled' without the quotes and turn off controlled folder and try to do the install.

If you decide to turn off controlled folder remember to turn it back on.

Hi Harjit

I don't appear to have that setup though I will explore further.

Hi all

When I tried to update again the issue returned

I tracked it down to a registry key.
I moved this from onedrive docs to a separate folder and the installer Now works.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Double-click on the Personal entry [Personal=Documents], which I believe is currently to C:\Users\YourUserName\OneDrive\Documents
In the Value data input box, paste in the path to C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents
