Respected sir
I am Prabhav Kaula. I have been trying to interact with the AGI community to clarify about the career path in AGI.
I have a doubt: Is it practically possible to pursue traditional AI/ML techniques and participate in computer vision, natural language processing, reinforcement learning etc. AND venture out, take the risk and learn more about cognitive synergy and projects ( for example going from NARS to a thinking machine) to achieve human level intelligence at the same time to have a safe career?
There is no normal career path in AGI. Many groups are trying to achieve similar (not same) goals. Since thinking machines might  revolutionize the AI/ML field, is it possible to be part of this interdisciplinary field?
The traditional ways of artificial intelligence are being heavily bombarded with students and researchers but the field of AGI has just started.
Thanking you in anticipation

When you are young, it is best to participate in the mainstream, so that you can better understand "how the world works".  When you are older and more experienced, you can move in new directions.

Going alone when you are young typically results in getting lost in the local woodlands, where you remain trapped forevermore, quite unaware of the mountains and oceans and jungles of the world.

The tricky part is earning an income.

Patrick: Are they laughing at us?
Sponge Bob: No, Patrick, they are laughing next to us.
