Hi All,
I’m hoping someone can point out my error because I’m at a bit of a loss. When I perform the following queries I get 0 results:
api.openalex.org/works?filter=doi:10.1111/cag.70037
api.openalex.org/works?filter=doi:10.1002/csc2.70158
However, these works *do* exist in the OpenAlex database, and the DOIs look correct:
By contrast, this query seems to work fine: api.openalex.org/works?filter=doi:10.1111/csp2.70108.
Does anyone see something I don’t? I’d greatly appreciate if anyone has any insight.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Jason,
Don’t think it’s DOI related – I think this work is missing from the ElasticSearch index since https://api.openalex.org/works?filter=ids.openalex:w7081999959 doesn’t find it either.
And https://api.openalex.org/works?filter=doi_starts_with:10.1002/csc2.7015 finds 9 DOI’s, except your 10.1002/csc2.70158.
What I think is happening: Starting two days ago OpenAlex is serving individual lookups directly from ‘Lakebase’, see:
https://github.com/ourresearch/openalex-elastic-api/commit/999de7b1aa187ed049b99bb7b6432570fe4644a8
Which the team was alluding to here:
Probably, there is some drift between the ES Index and the direct lookups?
Best,
Tijmen

Hi Tijmen,
Wow, ok, thanks for that explanation (and confirmation that it’s not my query). That’s very helpful. I greatly appreciate it!
