Hello! I'm wondering if I should update my guide camera, and I would appreciate other's experiences.

After another breakdown of my 8" LX200 running at f6.3, I demounted the OTA and plan to run it on a Ioptron HEM44. I use a SGIB ST402 with photometry filters. Most of my exposures are 60 seconds or less, though some are up to 5 minutes, especially in B filter.

I've never had good success with guiding with my SBIG ST-i and 100mm guide scope at f2.8 with the LX200 mount. Lots of streaked frames, which I presumed was from the mount.

The pixel scale ratio is about 10.0. I would like to run the set-up fully robotic, and I can get an updated guide camera. I'm considering a QHYCCD5III with 2 micron pixels.

Would I see an improvement in guiding by updating the guide camera? Best regards.

Mike
