I want to use my thin OAG (Lodestar camera) with the AO-8. Does PHD2 support the AO-8 with a non-SBIG external guider?

Thanks for any info on the subject,
Kent

Hi Kent,
Feel free to post back if that does not answer your question.

Hi, is there an update on this? The only option I see (directly or using the SG API Guider) is the SBIG AO (INDI) and that fails to connect. Is it possible to use SGP and PHD2 and an SBIG ST2000XM/CFW10/AO-8?  I've looked up INDI, but not sure I understand whether it would help me here.

I also would like to know if the AO8 (in my case with a STT 8300) would work with PhD and SGP.  I am getting a new system to set up in New Mexico and the AO8 is one option. I presently use a QSI/Starlight AO/Lodestar setup at home but if I go that route in NM it would be WAY more expensive since it would require a new camera and filters and a new guide camera instead of just the AO. I really do not want to buy an AO that will not work with the software!

I would add two things:

1) The QSI/Lodestar/SXAO system works great.
2) The old thread on this is not much help since it offered few assurances and was very old. I really need to know if someone has actually used the AO8 recently with SGP and PhD and had it work

Hi ic5.  I will be surprised if you get any positive feedback on this.  Certainly, the SBIG AO has not been worked on by the main developers of PHD2 so I think you would be putting yourself on the outer fringe of the user community – assuming it worked at all.  Based on personal experience, a new remote observatory is not a good place to be working with untried or marginal configurations which is no doubt what’s behind your question.

Good luck,

Bruce

Greetings.  Any update on this?  Very much desiring AO-8 support with PHD2 and SGP.

There's no update but under the current circumstances it simply isn't going to happen.
