I used asi air to polar align my mount.
I was able to get a successful calibration after changing several parameters due to too much star movement or too little.  I also ran the guiding assistant several times.  I also changed the G/S function on the 492 during my trials.  I think these  guide/slew  buttons may affect how the phd parameters change interact with the mount.

But my guiding is poor!  I plan to start over and try to keep track of all the different parameters.

Any help in understanding my mount and suggestions on what to do are greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Mark

Does it matter what G/S speed works best when connecting to the guide scope and phd?  .3x, .5x.2x,4x,16x  Do the phd parameters change if I change the G/S speed

You haven't achieved a successful calibration yet, so you aren't going to get any good guiding until you do tht

Try using the calibration assistant. You will need to manually move the mount to dec = 0 at the meridian

the calibration looks good, but with a st-4 guiding there's very little debuginformation

Declination appears unresponsive. Try doing the star cross test to see if

Regarding the guidespeed, it should be set to 0.5x and stay there. Don't attempt to change it once you calibrate

With ST-4 guiding, you will need to recalibrate for each new target

the manual for the 492 is here (g11)

Thanks, I was using guide speed 2x - I'll redo using 5x.
I started drift alignment.  I improved the azimuth but then clouds moved in.
Thanks for the tip regarding reclibrating for each target.
I truly appreciate the time you put in to help.  Mark

Mark just to clarify you want the guidespeed to be 0.5x
