Hello again friends,
I reinstalled PHD2 , last version, in a Windows XP, after formatting it.
I cannot open it, first it doesn't find winusb.dll, then another dll called msvcrt.dll.
Before formatting it performed very wel. What's going on ?
Thank you in advance for your help.

If you do a search on the forum for ‘XP’, you’ll see what’s going on.  Here’s a starting point:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/open-phd-guiding/XP/open-phd-guiding/Icn98Twfp5s/JQofZ8VkAwAJ

The evidence suggests that it depends on the history of the particular XP computer and what software updates it accumulated over the years.  The dll dependency tree got pretty deep and some of the required library files were apparently part of the early Internet Explorer releases.  When you reformat the hard drive and re-install the last XP service pack, a lot of the old stuff is no longer present.  I think you’ll have to move on in one way or another.

Good luck,

Bruce

I'm not sure where winusb comes from; you'll probably have to search the
M$ web site for that. msvcrt.dll is the Microsoft Visual C RunTime. I
believe you can download various versions of that from M$. You might
need to install several versions before you find the right one, though.

Thank you very much for the answers Bruce and Rhody.
It is a laptop that performed well with XP, all the programs worked and also PHD2 last version. I decided to format it with the same XP disk that I already had, due to problems with Eqmod.
I think now that it was a bad decision, my problem is the same as explained in the message that Bruce suggested, and it seems that it has a difficult solution.
However, I'll follow the advice given by Rody, trying different versions of msvcrt.dll.
Best regards.
Mario

Dear friends,
After posting my previous message, I decide to uninstall version 2.6.9 and try an older one, 2.6.3. The installation includes Visual C ++ files that appear to be the problem, and PHD opened successfully.
I am very happy and hope this solution can serve others with the same problem.

If you’re sure 2.6.3 is running fine, can you then install PHD2 updates *without un-installing anything*?
