I have an AP Mach 2 mount and I am getting an RMS reading around .6 - .5 with a 1674mm focal length F 6.7, and ASI6200 MC camera.

My images are coming out excellent, however the graph shows high RMS.  I have attached a guide log.  I have all of the correct settings as far as I know.

Has anybody else seen this problem, especially with an encoder mount?

Thank you in advance.

Hi MS

First I recommend you setup PHD for encoder mounts by following this tutorial: https://youtu.be/wCu8PKjDZ20

Guiding encoder mounts is very different than guiding non-encoder mounts. I think you will end up with better results with those recommendations

Otherwise, looking at your logs and picking the longest run you have, it doesn't seem like your RMS is that high?

here the 34 minute run, overall RMS is 0.64 with ra and dec nearly equal - that suggests you are guiding at the limit of seeing

In fact you can see towards the second half the seeing degraded, so looking at the first half of that run, your overall rms was 0.35" on each axis, nearly equal, and overall 0.5" RMS

Picking a third run, the 11 minute run, even though you were fiddling with the settings and polar alignment seems off (dec pulses in only one direction)  your overall RMS is 0.41"

just looking at a couple others, i see total RMS of 0.52", 0.37" etc.

Thank you Brian.  I actually did follow that tutorial to set up PHD2. I just noticed this guide log was from April.  I have my guide log from the other night out at my dark site and will post it when I am able to retrieve it.
