You might first try updating the driver, there appears to be a Windows-11 certified one here:
https://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41
This a good support reference and there’s also a section on the page that tells you how to check if your particular version of the device is compatible.

Glad you got it sorted out, Steven. It was a curious situation, usually USB-serial connections either work or they don’t – so it’s good to have your results on record. Plus, you now have a better sense of just how small guide corrections really are. 😊
