Update to plus.codes API

We've updated the plus.codes API so that it returns the same locality names that are displayed on Google Maps. A side effect is that the locality information no longer includes the locality_place_id field.

This is available on our testing instance. You can test it by making requests to:


There is no change to the arguments or how searches are handled. The only visible change should be that the locality returned in local_address may differ from the live API.

If you use the existing API, I'd encourage you to test this instance. If there is no feedback, we expect to push it to live within the next week or so.

Requests to the plus.codes API will now be served from the updated instance.

If you notice any problems or have any difficulties, please let me know in this thread or by creating an issue in our GitHub issue tracker.

For the moment you can still access the old version of the API by specifying v1 in the URL (plus.codes/api/v1?....) but unless any issues are reported this old version will be disabled in a month or two.
