Isn't QR code superior to plus code? I think QR code handling is much easier for everybody and converting them 'on the fly' should be an easy task. Anyway, it would be nice to display them additionally on the plus codes homepage.

What would this QR code contain? What would scanning the QR code DO for the user? Who would use this QR code?

QR codes commonly contain URLs, which the 'reader' would then open for the user.

... so in theory it could open a URL like https://plus.codes/7JVW52GR+2V

But have to admit it doesn't seem all that useful. Why would anyone scan QR code?

If you as a user wanted to find the Plus Code, to use in address, for their business card, or for making an order. The final end user 'using' the Plus Code would have to use it directly - eg by entering it into Google Maps, their navigation software, or database.

If they did want to put a QR code, they would do it for a specific purpose, wouldn't really be wanting to forward the final end user to the plus.codes website.

Ie the could make a QR code of the whole address, to save end user typing, or a code to their website (that has a contact page, with a repeat of the details)

(not trying to demean your idea! Just dont understand it)

QR codes and Plus codes fulfill completely different needs. The plus code is supposed to be short enough to be typed in whereas a QR code is for information like URLs that is too long to be typed in under normal circumstances.

Not that the original question makes much sense, it's a bit like asking if photography is better than phone numbers.  Completely different beasts. Not that you can't take a photo of an old phone thereby showing its assigned number.

So here's a photo that'll confuse the issue.

Still waiting for the aerial imagery in Google Earth (& Maps) to be updated...

I was asking for QR codes not to replace Google Plus Codes but as an additional tool. Sorry that I haven't made that clear, probably 'cause English isn't my native language.

Just think about an user with a smartphone and navigation application/device. It would be an easy task to scan a QR code with embedded geolocation for setting up a route from e.g. current position (or somewhere else) to the QR code destination. Nothing to enter, just a scan and to make a choice which application/device it is meant for. >>>MAPCODE<<< has it already!

Hi Oskar,

The big advantage of plus codes is that it allows people to communicate a location in a way that is easier than latitude, longitude.

For example, you could embed a plus code in a QR code, but since it's going to be read by a computer, then you could just stick with the latitude and longitude, like in this one:
