Hi everyone,
We're excited to announce that Open Ephys GUI version 1.0 is now available as a preview release (tagged as alpha.2):
If you'd like to try 1.0 on a machine that has a previous version of the GUI installed, we recommend running 1.0 from a .zip file, rather than using the installer.
There are numerous improvements in this version – before you get started, we recommend reading through
this page to learn about what has changed.
We've been using version 1.0 at the Allen Institute for over a year, and we consider it ready for production. Before the official release, we will update the documentation to reflect all of the new features in version 1.0, and also give the community the opportunity to provide feedback. Please let us know what you think, especially if you encounter any bugs or unexpected behavior!
IMPORTANT: As of version 1.0, all Open Ephys acquisition boards interface with a single plugin, called "Acquisition Board." Whereas previously you either had to install "Rhythm Plugins" for boards with the Opal Kelly FPGA or "OE FPGA Acquisition Board" for boards with the Open Ephys FPGA, now *all* acquisition boards are covered by one plugin which automatically detects which type of board you have connected.
If you are using any custom plugins, some small changes will be required to compile them against the
development-juce8 branch (which will become the
main branch once version 1.0 is officially released). Get in touch with
sup...@open-ephys.org if you need help migrating your code!
Best,
Josh, Pavel, and Anjal
