to Open Data Day
Hello everyone,

Greetings from the Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN)! I hope you are doing well.

I'm writing this email with an opportunity for you as members of the Open Data Day community.

Since last year, as you may know, our team has been working on a new tool aimed at people who work with data but have no technical knowledge of coding or programming, the Open Data Editor (ODE). The first stable version was released last year and we are now working to release version 1.4.0 in the coming weeks. More information can be found here.

The app was launched in conjunction with a data literacy course, Quality and Consistent Data with the Open Data Editor (developed in partnership with Escola de Dados and Open Knowledge Brazil).

We would like to offer this course as an open resource for you to use in your training practices. Well, this is already available – the course is free and open to everyone. But we also want to offer training for multipliers, on a "train the trainers" basis. Just like we do with the Open Data Day mini-grants, the intention is to distribute small funds to those who, once trained, can demonstrate that they have used the course with more people in their localities and contexts.

If you're interested in this initiative and the multiplier training, here's an invitation: please join us for an informative call we're organising on 16 April 2025, at 13:00 CET. We'll present the idea in more detail and talk about this model of distributed impact and funding.

Please fill out this form indicating your interest in receiving the call link.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us by replying to this email.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Best wishes,

Subject: Invitation to Support Our Matching Grant Campaign
Dear [Supporter’s Name],
I am pleased to share that our organization, family care for Children, has been selected to participate in the Africa Impact Fundraising Grant Program, an initiative of the New Africa Fund.
As part of this program, we are taking part in a fundraising challenge from April 1 to April 30, 2025. Once we raise $500, all additional contributions will be matched one to one by the New Africa Fund, up to a maximum of $5,000. This means we have the opportunity to secure a total of $10,000 to advance our work in Protecting children for any form of child abuse, promoting youth employment and vulnerable families with advocacy on the issues affecting them.
We kindly invite you to support us in this effort. Your contribution—no matter the amount—will bring us closer to unlocking the full match and making a greater impact in our community.
To donate, please visit: https://give-usa.keela.co/family-care-for-children-donate-page
The deadline for contributions is April 30, 2025.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and belief in our mission.
Sincerely,
Robert RUGAMBA
