Hi Tim and OAC folks,

Being in Canada I’m not certain if I can be an applicant but I’m happy to help either way.

Happy New Year to all!

Cheers,

I read over the Sloan.org and it looks promising, anyone have a non-profit that can accept the funds?  All my business are for profit.

Best
James

The open science hardware foundation could likely act to accept something like that.

Also the open source hardware association

Hi all,

Glad there's so much interest in this, and super excited to talk further!! I had originally thought we could submit through my position at Fred Hutch/University of Washington, and contract with groups unable to directly accept a subaward (e.g. Scott). OSHWA / OSHF works great as well if we can develop a suitable arrangement.

Best,
Nasa

Hello everyone, hope you all had a happy new year.

As I'm currently located in Brazil I'm not sure if I can apply but I'd gladly help in any way I can.

Best,
Luiza

I have not been able to watch the recording yet but I do want to note that in San Francisco we have been able to get some community automation that has been generously provided by Opentrons.

Happy to share additional details if anyone is interested!

Hi all,

Hope you are well! We're having our kickoff meeting for grant planning at 4pm Eastern / 1pm Pacific on Friday, Feb 6 (this coming Friday). This first meeting will focus on getting to know each other, talking about general ideas, and identifying other people we should talk to. Please let me know if you would like to join, and hope to see you there!

Best,
Nasa

Hi all,

We recently had our (lovely) first meeting about this. During the meeting, we developed the following questions to drive our direction:
1. Who is comfortable with automation and who is not?
2. How do we bridge the communication bottleneck between humans and machines?
3. How do we verify automation technologies so they can be used in practice (e.g. GxP)?
4. What is the role of humans in a community with (simple) automation tools?
5. How can automation tools support community resilience and data sovereignty?

If you are interested in joining our future conversations, please let Tim and/or I know! We will use a separate email list for this project until we report back to avoid sending too many emails here. This will be the last communication on this list until we send the draft letter of intent near the end of March. We plan to meet every other Friday at 4pm Eastern / 1pm Pacific / 9pm UTC until then (Feb 20; March 6; and March 20). Tomorrow's meeting will be a brief check-in call to brainstorm who to reach out to further to bring other voices into the conversation, and discuss concrete potential project outcomes. Looking forward to talking further!

Best,
Nasa

Hello Nasa, Tim and auto club members
Time for me to show up and get my community bio fab lab going
I did not attend previous meetings  mainly due to a serious injury that led to a multiple fractured arm and wrist that took a long time to heal. Still healing

Please do put me in the list and if you have a recording of the previous session  i would love to hear it

have a great weekend
