Hi One Flip,

It's with a heavy heart that I write this email. I (along with several other teammates) just learned about the passing of our very own Charlie Wilson. I wish I was checking in as captain with significantly brighter news, but also felt like each you deserved to know. Charlie was the bedrock of the team, an OG and all around great guy. I consider myself lucky to have called him a friend, and suspect that everyone else feels the same.

At this point, I'm not sure where everyone's located, but many of us have been talking about trying to celebrate his memory at a bar in NYC in the new year. Let me know if you're interested in trying to make that happen and I'll work to get something lined up.

Stay safe through the holidays and give your family and friends an extra check-in.

Talk soon,
Derek

Hey guys - long time

Hope everyone’s doing well - miss you all

Heartbreaking email - couldn’t believe my eyes as I read it thought maybe I was reading wrong

We should definitely get together in the city and celebrate Charlie - whether it’s NYE or another weekend - depending on how everyone’s holiday schedule is.

Thanks Derek aka captain for organizing this and hope we can make it happen

Best,

Agreed. It still feels very shocking and hard to believe. It was comforting to see he seemed to have found another family on the field through softball and they even dedicated a bench in his name in McCarren Park.

I know we are all feeling the weight of this loss but I feel lucky to have such wonderful memories of him on the field and off.

It would be really great to celebrate Charlie in a meaningful way in the new year. Wish we were getting together under different circumstances. Hope everyone is doing well!

Wishing everyone comfort during this time and through the holidays.
Heather

Thank you for letting us know - so sorry to hear this news. I only knew Charlie for a season or two, but I will never forget his fun-loving personality and kindness. Looking at all the comments from friends and family on the ever loved site, it is clear to see he made a lasting impact on many people’s lives. 💙
