This is what most of the pilots at an airport and majority of the general public think hang gliding is already. Dune gooning. Good practice though, like paraglider ground handling. Ray

Logged about 50plus flights at Marina Beach one year when I lived nearby and I was only lucky enough to encounter such perfect ‘floating’ conditions on two very distinct occasions.  Rare and magical.

I like dune gooning in a single surface glider.  The thought of doing this stuff in an advanced blade wing topless glider scares the shit out of me!

I used to fly my Sensor CF (topless) at Marina. I actually preferred to my single surfaced gliders. It was easier to cross low sections and it would definitely topout higher. That said the Sensor with flaps doesn't act like a “normal” topless glider ;-)
