I just finished this one - it's a modified parlor (Torres Flamenco body) 12th fret join.

Back/Sides - East Ind. Rosewood
Top - Old Growth Sitka
Neck - Honduras Mahogany
Bridge - Persimmon (Texas Ebony)
Binding - Body Bloodwood; Neck Tulipwood
Headstock/End Wedge/Rosette - Scraps from previous builds - EIR,Bloodwood,Tulipwood,Purpleheart, Acrylic
Finish - FP Royal Lac Post Cat - Padded on.
Scale - 25.25"/641mmm

This is probably my favorite guitar now. It has a lovely sound and is a real joy to play. The 12 fret joint makes a noticeable difference in sound ( Beautiful hi-end, very balanced across the spectrum, tight dynamics) and is also comfortable. It is definitely the best recording guitar I've had after a Taylor 812 which sounded better in front of a decent mic than any guitar I ever had, the expensive ones included. This is a great size for classical players that want to cross over.

The sound file is raw guitar - no effects, no reverb, capo 5

Regards,

Peter Streit

That is beautiful. I have been building 00-12 fret guitars for the last year and I love them.

Excellent quality Parlor guitar build. Very interesting inlays colour combinations.  Like the the recording and the Parlor guitar sounds great!

What microphone did you use for this recording.

On the side I about half way on a Parlor guitar build for a client. Hope to have completed towards the end of this year.

Thanks, Wayne. I use a Rode NT5 stereo condenser mic for focused sound and a Groove Tubes GT 66 large diaphragm condenser for a little ambient/room sound. Both mics placed in front of the guitar a little above the sound hole, 3-4 feet away

I am new at guitar building;  what is a 00-12 fret joint and how is it designed?  Thanks,  Gijs van Oort

A 12 fret join guitar has the neck joining at the 12th fret instead of at the 14th. This puts the bridge more in the center of the lower bout and is believed to improve sound. Typically, the body is longer on a 12 and the lower bout is wider on a 14 for the same 00 guitar.

I recently has a specialty case made for flying with my 00-14 and 00-12. The case supplier needed to understand the implications of the two bodies and I sent along this file.

the case is great. I custom foam pads that I tuck in depending on the guitar I am transporting.

Hello Gijs,

Your name sounds very Dutch, are you from the Netherlands?

Met vriendelijke groet, Dick
