This is cool:

https://webmap.ornl.gov/qaqc/identify/

You can imagine going from a GAZ place to geolocation (e.g. via wikidata integration), and then geolocation to environment type (the environment types would need to be mapped to ENVO)

Cool to connect map locations to metadata.
See how this has been done in JGI’s GOLD Database.

Yes! 

This is something that came up several times at ESIP.
A natural user group would be the geospatial community, and linking to coordinates is a must (as other gazetteers do). We can certainly add more unique value by linking to environmental semantics.
