Can Power BI set up a template to track student's progress towards UE during the year?

Definitely can be - PowerBI is ultimately the visualisation of your underlying data.

You can use measures to do the calculation (similar to formula in Excel) and then use the visualisations to make it easier to understand progress towards UE.

HAve a look at some of these blogs to show what was happening at st Andrew's when I was there - they've progressed this a long way since then:

Hi Anna,

Glad you found the conference helpful. 

Definitely can be done, will require a few formulas to get there though, as UE is a “reasonably” complicated qualification.

If you want a hand or pointers to get going in the right direction do let me know.

Hi Anna

I have done this for the last couple of years.  I hope to develop a more streamlined method this year when I have some time.  I built it in a very patchwork fashion.

I've attached a diagram showing the interrelationships between my tables and measures that I drew up last year when I started unpicking my process after I had built my model.

It's a bit messy but it might give you some idea of what is or can be involved.
