Hello, we recently moved our documents, including AutoCrat templates, from "My Drive" folders to "Shared Drive" Folders and since then when AutoCrat gets to the part where you search for a template it can't find any.  To get it to find the template we have to move it back to a "My Drive" folder.  Does AutoCrat not support Shared drives?  Why is there not a "browse" button so that it's possible to point AutoCrat to the correct storage location?

Hello,

Autocrat does not work with Shared or Team Drives.
It currently can only access files on your drive that you point it to.

Shared and Team drives have a different and much larger set of permission settings that are not within the scopes of the Autocrat.

You would have to select a folder on your drive and then share the folder with the others who need access to the files inside it.

This is an interesting statement to me as currently my copy of Autocrat will not search MyDrive for output and only searches team drives for output.

Please tell me how you came across this "Happy Accident"! 
I too NEED to have Autocrad create files in my team drive - not "my drive".

Autocrat doesn't currently work with Team Drives.

Does anyone have a link where we can give "feedback" to Autocrat? I think it's insane you cannot work within a Shared Drive. I understand the issue with permissions and what not, but in order for this to work for larger groups or districts, access to those drives needs to be accessible through Autocrat. We may have to look elsewhere for something else that does something close to this but allows the folder to be dropped into a Shared Drive for others to see and use.

I don't believe what you are asking for is currently possible.  If you can find a product that works with Team Drives, great for you.

New Visions is a non-profit and I'm amazed at the amount of support they give.

"that are not within the scopes of the Autocrat", emphasis on not currently. This is definitely a feature that can be implemented, shared drives are not that much vastly different than personal drives.

Is there any chance we could help fund the implementation of shared drive support? I'd love to see it too! :)

I can search for, find and use a template from a shared drive.  When I select what folder to save to, it allows me to select a shared drive.  But then the created file ends up in My Drive.  As I'm just the creator of the forms and files, it would be really fantastic for the files to actually save there.

Can this be fixed? As a business we operate with Shared Drives to avoid 'orphaned' files and folders. This would be a huge win if it could be resolved.

I suggest you read the terms of service.  

I gave Gemini this question, "can a google script create a file in a shared drive" and it returns instructions.  Gemini is sometimes wrong.

You could create your own script.

While Gemini indicates that it is possible, Gemini can't know the priority list of Newvisions.

I'm just a volunteer who answers questions at the group.
