So I have a one page Google Doc template set up.  I have single output mode selected, I want ALL lines of data in the google sheet to create a new page int he same document (so I can mass print them).  The first page is perfect.  The subsequent pages the spacing is all off and it ends up being 2 pages. I have some Tables in the template so the data is aligned the way I want it but there is nothing pushing the tables down further.  Any thoughts why the subsequent pages would have different spacing?

Patrick,

I don't have my data being pushed into a Google Doc, but rather a Google Slide being converted into a PDF (multiple files).  I had a problem where the formatting of background text (not the variable text, but rather, the form setup would shift when Autocrat would run.  However, if I set up the form and then converted it to a high-quality TIFF or PNG, and insert the image to a Google Slide, this has alleviated the shift issue.

Controlling spacing on single output mode is a problem.  Can you shorten the template so it doesn't come as close to filling the page?  You seem to have extra spacing that might not be needed.

Yes I can try to squeeze the extra spaces out.  I did it a little already but I will try some more.

it is adding a blank row between each of my ros on the subsequent pages.  IN my main document (and page 1 of the output document) there is only one "blank" row between by data.  But in the subsequent pages there are 2 blank rows between each line.  that is strange. but that is what is pushing it to another page is the addition of the blanks rows.  Wonder why that is happening?

Thanks. I am trying to get one document so I can mass print them at one time.

Silly question, but is there any chance your template is actually two pages? In addition to the line spacing changing, the font is changing as well. The phrase "PAY TO THE ORDER OF" is in Times New Roman on page 1 of the "better" version you shared but Overlock on the remaining pages. I can't imagine how Autocrat would/could be doing that.

The template is one page.  I am curious why the font changes and the extra space gets inserted too.  I noticed my template had some "headings" for some of the lines, so I removed those.  I reformatted all text to be Times New Roman.  And re-ran this morning. And the line spaces that are added are now a mix of Times New Roman and Arial size 11.  I do not have any Arial in my template.  This is really bizarre.

Page 1 is perfect. Then Pag2 and sll others have the new lines added and now some of them are Ariel.

I even reduced the side margin of my tables so they did not go all the way to the right of the page.... that didn't help.  Something happens with subsequent pages that is adding blank lines and changing the font to those new lines.

I set up a sample job* this morning to test this out, just a simple Doc with a table to hold the fields. Tried it with and without formatting text in the spreadsheet (I had a theory that formatting the data in the Sheet would impact the Doc, but it appears Autocrat strips out any formatting from the data before merging it).

It, of course, ran perfectly.

Did you create the template from scratch as a Google Doc, or convert (either by uploading or copying and pasting) from a Word doc? I'm just wondering if there's some funky formatting code that's invisible to you that is affecting the output.

If it wasn't a Doc originally, it might be worth building your template again and pointing your Autocrat job to the new file.

Beyond that I think I'm out of ideas. Sorry!

Chris

I created a brand new template from scratch.... (the original was converted from WORD).  Same issue with the brand new template.  Extra spaces are being added. Without fail, there is a new line added after each "table" in the new document that is not there in the original template.

It looks like this issue never got resolved, as I am having the same issue. I have a table in a template and after the first page an extra space gets added after it on every subsequent page. I tried using columns instead (since it was just one row of two columns) and then I got an error message. It appears that autocrat can't run if there are columns in a template.

If anyone found another work around, I'd be happy to know!

I had the same problem with the first page of my template coming out correctly but the line spacing was off for all subsequent pages.  After a few hours messing with margins, page breaks, formats, etc,  I noticed that any blank lines automatically change to arial 11 after the first page.  I adjusted my templates to use multiple arial 11 blank lines instead of one tahoma 28 (for example) for the spacing to be consistent on all docs in single output mode.
