My lingering saga of problems using Autocart persist.
(Background: I have used Autocrat successfully for many years to accomplish my simple mission. Even the template I am trying to incorporate into a merge job continues to fail.)
Basic problem now: Even when I go into Incognito mode on Chrome and try to initiate action, I hit a roadblock for which I cannot find a solution.
I was successful in installing Autocrat under Incognito. Then, when I opened the Extension, the setup routine began as I expected. But, Autocrat did not find any existing jobs, so I clicked “New Job” in the bottom right-hand corner.
However, even after leaving my computer running for a bit more than 1.5 hours, it seems locked up in a “do nothing” loop. The screen simply shows “Loading..” and the three black dots just pulse continually on the screen. My only solution to this in the past has been to force stop the process.
I even created a über-simple pair of documents to test Autocrat in the most basic way I could imagine. Google Sheet with 3 rows (header, plus two data rows). Row contents were a person’s first name, plus a favorite color.
Template was a Google Slide with two rows into which some data could be merged. Like this:
Name: <<name>>
Color: <<color>>
That should work with zero problem. But, did it? Nope! So, I keep digging into the troubleshooting barrel in order to uncover a solution.
I dearly love the Autocrat concept (and have taught multiple workshops, especially to school faculty, over the past 8-10 years); however, it’s aggravating when I cannot make it function as I desire. Shoot, I can’t even get far enough into it to allow me to clean up the jobs that were there so I can start over with a clean slate. I’ve even searched online forums to find out if there’s a way I can dig into the coding so that I might erase some of what’s there. Oh, well. I remember the sage counsel of the famous author, Napoleon Hill, in his 1939 masterpiece, “Think and Grow Rich” which states: “I will persist until I succeed!”
TIA for any help that’s forthcoming.
